Archives Fine Books is on Charlotte St, Brisbane City, near the corner of George St (click here to see the exact location).
I heard about Archives when I first visited Brisbane in 1998 - it’s a huge bookshop that has over a million books on site. When I moved in 2002 I wanted to study military history, so I poked around and found all three volumes of JFC Fuller’s Military History of the Western World
(The English edition is called The Decisive Battles of the Western World and their Influence upon History)
Wes at the I Love Brisbane blog also has a picture of the outside of the building, featuring the stonework saying, oddly “John Mills Himself”.

John Campbell Says:Thanks for the news about “Archives” I have been a customer since Emmannuel Meschers owned it and I frequented the place and brought many books which I cherish.
More recently I have become a fan of “Folio Bookshop” and can hardly ever go there without finding a treasure.
My home is so full of books my wife says “sometinng” must be done!!
