Thanks to the good people at Raw Audio, I’ve just found this YouTube video of Brisbane Pirate Metal band Scuurvy playing their song ‘Send Ye Down to See Olde Hobb’, at the Jubilee Hotel, Fortitude Valley, in April 2006.
Read more to find out about their free gig tonight at Club Phoenix, 235 Edward St, Brisbane City.
Scuurvy also have a myspace page here and you can see their other YouTube vids here.
Scuurvy will be supporting SpitfireLiar along with Apex Null at Wednesday Night Inferno at Club Phoenix, 235 Edward St, Brisbane City - between Adelaide St and Queen St. Club Phoenix is located between a Virgin Mobile store and an optician called “The Optical Edge”.
This photo was taken from the door of Club Phoenix looking back towards the corner of Edward and Adelaide Sts - you can see that it is not even 100 metres from the corner.
Click here to see a map of the exact location, thanks to Maplandia.
If you know any Brisbane bands who’d like to get the word out, just leave a comment. If I have to choose between bands, I’ll choose ones who have:
a) Released their music videos on YouTube.
b) Licenced their music under Creative Commons.
c) Updated web pages with gig listings.
So, who do you want to see featured on Brisbane Is Home?

How to blog your city, like I do for Brisbane | Brisbane Is Home Says:[...] If I’m writing about a particular gig, like Scuurvy’s pirate metal that I mentioned in my very second article, I’ll go to maplandia and create a Google Map with a placemark showing exactly where the venue is. And I went and took photos of the front of the venue, so anyone who wants to go will know EXACTLY where it is. Because ‘235 Edward St’ tells me very little about Club Phoenix. But a map, photos of the front of the venue, and an explanation of what shops it is in between mean that you can head out knowing just where you are going. [...]

Scuurvy’s another great Brisbane band…and they’ve got heaps of stuff on YouTube which really helps when you want to promote them.
And don’t forget to check out Aussie Pirate Day (the local organisers of International Talk Like A Pirate Day activities)
