250 zombies lumbered into Brisbane’s Roma St ParklandsAmphitheatre today (click here to see the exact location) to start the annual Brisbane Zombiewalk.

There’s 35 photos of the start of the Zombiewalk over at flickr - the ones you see here and about 20 more. If you use flickr, you can see the photos in much larger sizes, download them for your own use and see them on a map or in a slideshow.

There’s also Brisbane ZombieWalk 2007 photos on Flickr by yinyang, shanrosen, d70dug, G205, and lifemusicmedia.

UPDATE: Tuesday morning.

Plenty more links to photos posted on the brisneyland livejournal community:

by cheesecheese, who has 80 photos and 10 video clips at photobucket, including this one:

Also lime_red has 39 photos at the ::lime - diary of a fruit:: blog, and ozfuture has a livejournal post with 27 pictures.

There’s also a flickr group devoted especially to Brisbane ZombieWalk 2007, which has photos from imitation, cptkirkco, Maxyz, d70dug .steveT, eatnutmeg, Misteriddles, jnbrewster, Let’s Take Over, lifemusicmedia, yinyang, Felix42, G205, OzFuture, VikingCarrot, witchdoktor, and Louise and a story at Brisbane blog Larvatus Prodeo.

This zombie has a crab-like creature on top of his head. Naturally, I was too polite to ask why.

UPDATE: It’s from a video game. Not Give My Regards To Broad Street, as I thought, but Half Life 1 and 2, apparently.

Sir, that's an anthropomorphic personification of Death, not a zombie. If you won't take it seriously, it's just not fun anymore.

"Would you like brains with that?" said my fast-food consultant as he danced a zombie jig.

One good thing about being a reanimated corpse is that no-one hectors you about how bad smoking is for you.

The loud, insistent horde of zombies pressing against the amphitheatre stage, demanding ‘BRAINS!’.

This bit was very loud, and with 15 or 20 photographers on the stage all jostling for good shots of the ravaging horde of zombies, it was a bit un-nerving - but a lot of fun.

Just after this, the zombies left the Amphitheatre to follow the planned route.

I like to think of this zombie WPC as the corpse of 'The Bill', before Paul Marquess made it all soapy and the Sun Hill nick started blowing up every other fortnight.

She’s on her way out with the rest of the zombies to walk through town, and so am I. Leave a comment if you took some pictures that you want people to know about.

To finish off, here’s some footage from YouTube of the zombies “shambling through the Brisbane Botanical Gardens” at the end of the walk, by Misguided Oracle:

Update: Marduk111 has posted two more videophone vids of some zombie-shambling through the Queen St Mall:

UPDATE, Wed AM: YouTube user thepinkolive has put together 5 minutes of videophone footage of the ZombieWalk:

Those are some great pictures and it looks like it was a lot of fun!

Thanks Alli, yes it was great fun. Hundreds of people really getting into the spirit of it all. BRAINS!

I’ve found a few more photos from jnbrewster on flickr, including this one of the Zombie Wiggles.

Brisbane ZombieWalk 2007 flickr group - click here (and add your flickr photos of the walk if you have them), and also ZWB07 photos from felix42 and Louise.

This is an annual event? How in the world did this get started?

the Brain Crab in photo #2 is from a computer game where they eat the heads of the living and animate their bodies to do their bidding. I don’t remember the name of the game :-(

Either that or it is the worst case of head lice ever!!!

D70Doug, it was probably Give My Regards To Broad Street. :P

UPDATE: It’s from Half Life 1 and 2, says this person.

Carole, Wikipedia is your friend, or at least that strange guy at the bar who knows weird stuff:

MMMmmm Brains. You get to do all the fun stuff! Looks like it was a great event.

“Half Life” that was the name if it !!!

“Give my regards to Broadstreet” The movie? I would rather have giant crabs eat my brains than watch that movie again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

D70doug, believe it or not, there was a C64 game based on GMRTBS (follow the link in comment 7 above). You had to drive around London getting bits of Paul McCartney’s missing song.

I thought that a game based on a Paul McCartney movie might have had something to do with brain-sucking crabs, and not in a good way :)

I can see from your response that we are on the same page, at least.
