Tonight, I’ll be trying something new-ish. I’ll be using the Twitter channel for Brisbane Is Home to do a live call of the first twenty-odd minutes of the Rugby League match between the Brisbane Broncos and the North Queensland Cowboys. This means that if you are signed up to Twitter and subscribed to Brisbane Is Home’s channel, you’ll get updates on the game sent to your mobile phone.

This is a test run for doing some live calls of big matches. So feel free to sign up to Twitter and start following the updates for Brisbane Is Home - you’ll also get updates whenever Brisbane Is Home posts new stories (see below).

Wikipedia tells us that parkour is:

This “microdocumentary” of Brisbane freerunner Luke Quadrio appeared on YouTube a month ago, made by Brisbane YouTuber sorrymack.

Quadrio says that freerunning is like parkour, but it “likes to use a lot more flair and style moves”

And Brisbane YouTuber AnorexicBoar made this video of a parkour jam in Brisbane City in early May:

Thanks to ourbrisbane.com, I just found out about Expressions Dance Company’s community dance classes at the Judith Wright Centre in Fortitude Valley.

These are casual classes - you don’t have to sign up for a whole term, just turn up - you don’t even need to book. Classes are on the 4th floor of the Judith Wright Centre - take the lift and go down the corridor. Showers are available, and wear loose clothing, with socks or bare feet.

Classes start at 6pm. Beginners classes are on Monday and Tuesday, and intermediate/advanced classes are on Wednesday. It’s $9.50 per class, or $8.50 if you have a concession card. Cash only. The classes run from late January to late November.

Everything is all clear… Normal services resumed by ten am after South Brisbane train station was out of action for nearly two hours this morning due to a bomb scare.

Police have arrived and closed the station. QR staff have advised passengers to seek alternative transport. Police advise it will be at least another hour before trains resume service.

South Brisbane train station is temporarily closed due to a suspicious box being found on platform 2. No trains are passing through either way while Queensland Rail staff await police. This incident comes a week after terror suspects were arrested on the Gold Coast.
