If you haven’t noticed, Home Turf Media is out and someone new is in. That new person would be myself, Chris Vincent. Because of the large work load involved with running HTF the owner finally decided to sell off this website to someone else who had the time and would be willing to continue blogging.
To formally introduce myself, I’m Chris Vincent. I’m a fellow Brisbaneite and blogger. I live on the north side of Brisbane and regularly visit both the inner, outer city and down the south side. I’ve been seeking a project for a long time that would be interesting, informative and something that everyone around me could relate to. Once I saw this website, it came to me as the perfect opportunity.
To start off my career on this blog, I’m going to be revamping this website in quite a few ways. Here’s only a couple of ideas that I have for the future:
A new blog theme
Regular updates to show popular Brisbane Events
The ability to share your Brisbane images to everyone
So if your like me and excited about our wonderful city of Brisbane, and would also like to see growth within this blog, please feel free to subscribe to our RSS feed through your Microsoft Outlook account. Otherwise, If you would like to help me write articles or help me with photography, please contact me at chris.vincent@brisbaneishome.com.
Brisbane’s Ekka starts thursday. Brisbane central train station has a petting zoo set up to promote the agricultural exhibition. Tickets can be purchased at queensland rail stations and a loop train will be running every 15-20 minutes to drop people at the gates. Brisbane’s Ekka public holiday is wednesday 15 august, but surrounding shires have their holidays on other days next week.
In addition to animals, the Ekka has a range of art, craft, cooking, commercial and various other displays, popular music concerts, rides and the best strawberry ice cream.
CALEB was released just two days ago on YouTube. According to fallenrosemedia, who produced the movie, it was
Filmed in Brisbane, Australia with a zero budget and in 2 days.
It’s a 22-minute film, and the producers say:
Over six months of secrets and lies, Caleb, Matthew, Dione and Charlotte’s lives became inexplicably intertwined. Told in a unique style and shrouded in mystery, C A L E B presents the lives of four young adults with seriously twisted lives.
Adult Themes, as they say, so this one probably isn’t for the under-16s.
The stars of the film are Matthew Backer, Julyan Stephens, Lozen McDairmid and Lauren Edwards.
Tonight, I’ll be trying something new-ish. I’ll be using the Twitter channel for Brisbane Is Home to do a live call of the first twenty-odd minutes of the Rugby League match between the Brisbane Broncos and the North Queensland Cowboys. This means that if you are signed up to Twitter and subscribed to Brisbane Is Home’s channel, you’ll get updates on the game sent to your mobile phone.
This is a test run for doing some live calls of big matches. So feel free to sign up to Twitter and start following the updates for Brisbane Is Home - you’ll also get updates whenever Brisbane Is Home posts new stories (see below).
If you have the internet on your phone, you’ll be able to surf directly to new stories at Brisbane Is Home. And if you don’t, you’ll get an SMS letting you know what’s waiting for you when you get to a computer.

These are casual classes - you don’t have to sign up for a whole term, just turn up - you don’t even need to book. Classes are on the 4th floor of the Judith Wright Centre - take the lift and go down the corridor. Showers are available, and wear loose clothing, with socks or bare feet.
Classes start at 6pm. Beginners classes are on Monday and Tuesday, and intermediate/advanced classes are on Wednesday. It’s $9.50 per class, or $8.50 if you have a concession card. Cash only. The classes run from late January to late November.
Everything is all clear… Normal services resumed by ten am after South Brisbane train station was out of action for nearly two hours this morning due to a bomb scare.
