Friday is Australia Day - I’ll be at Southbank

Watching the game at Streets Beach, South Bank - The Ashes 2006-7 - First Test - Atmosphere in town, outside the Gabba, and watching the game on a big screen at the 'beach' in Southbank.

Friday January 26th is Australia Day, the 219th anniversary of the day that European settlers landed at Sydney Cove.

It’s a public holiday all around Australia, and there will be a lot of activities at Southbank. I’ll be there taking photos for a big report that I will publish on Monday (it will take me all weekend to get it just right).

The picture at the top of this article is of the artificial beach at Southbank. You can click on the picture to see it on the flickr photo-sharing website, or to see a map showing exactly where I took it.
