Brisbane’s Citycats: Some Photos of a Quick Trip from the Regatta Hotel to Queensland University of Technology

Small version of a black silhouette of people walking across a bridge in front of an aqua sky

Here’s 20 photos of a quick CityCat ride from the suburb of Toowong, along the Brisbane River to the City - I took them with my new camera, and tried out a little bit of special effects work.

If you click here you can see the route of the CityCat, from the Regatta Hotel stop to the Queensland University of Technology - Gardens Point stop.

Incidentally, the Regatta Hotel is famous for being the place where Australian academic Merle Thornton chained herself to the front bar in protest against the law that said women couldn’t drink in the front bar. Thornton later went on to write for the cult Australian TV show Prisoner (the one set in a women’s prison, not the weird SF one filmed in a Welsh village).

You can click here to see this set of pictures on flickr, where you can see them in a slideshow, see much bigger versions, and download them for your own use.

2 different hoardings rising above 2 of the different QPAC stages - the size is much clearer in this photograph

This would be my favourite - black silhouette of people walking across Queen Victoria Bridge in front of an aqua sky. Colours remind me of an IPod ad.

I like this one - it’s people on the Victoria Bridge. Looks like an IPod ad.

CityCat docking at Southbank, one of the busiest terminals. Played around with saturation effect to make an unnaturally bright blue

And this is some playing with the saturation of the colours - enough to make the blue really stand out.

Anyway, I hope you liked my rivers-eye view of Brisbane. Stick around for lots more photoblogging.
