Not for me. I went to the Darwin Show recently and that was enough for me. It is way too expensive for me even WITHOUT showbags and going on rides. There is still the time, travel and food/drink costs … long gone are the days when Ekka was a really great way to spend the day ‘out’.

It can be done cheaply, but it takes determination.

A friend took me with some free passes, and we were both poor so brought lunch, spent time looking at all the free stuff, bought one show bag and once strawberry icecream.

That said, I am not breaking my neck to go again, but even so I had more fun than I did at the Adelaide show. Much bigger and more stuff to see. :)

Update: the Ekka didn’t make as much money as previous years, which is interesting. It may also have to do with people struggling with increased interest rates and poorer work conditions, but I am guessing.

But I did find it helped me with car shopping - I got a great bargain while lots of people were either at the Ekka or recovering from spending too much at it.

Anther friend felt she also got a good buy near Easter.
