Because Brisbane is built on hills, there are some steep slopes right in the middle of town. In particular, it is a very steep climb from Adelaide St to Ann St. This means that the back of St John’s Anglican Cathedral looks down onto Adelaide St from on top of a 5-metre high cliff. You wouldn’t even notice it unless you bothered to look up all the time. Click here to see the exact location of the cathedral.
[BTW, Anglican = Episcopalian, if you're from the USA].

These are the administrative buildings of the diocese.
Hmmm..looks like we’ve got some High Churchers here…bring on the smells and bells.
I went around to the back of the cathedral, to take some shots looking down onto Adelaide St.
This shot looks straight across - you can see some first floor (second-floor in USAian) windows in this photo.
This shot looks down onto Adelaide St - that’s a bus you can see there.
If you click on any of the photos in this article, you will get taken to where they are stored on flickr, where you can see them on a map, watch them in a slideshow, see different sizes and download them for your own use.
What Brisbane landmarks would you like to see in Brisbane Is Home? Have you taken any photos of Brisbane buildings you’d like to show off? Leave a comment and let me know.
