It’s funny that I stumbled across this.
Yesteday I was walking past the awesome sculptures of the kangaroos lazily lying around on george street (between adelaide and queen i think) and I’m impressed every time I see them. This made me think of other impressive sculptures I’ve seen around the city and these include the giant horns rising out of the ground outside the Mincom building on 192 Ann St, and the ‘hand of god’ thing (that’s what I call it!) which is somewhere over near Eagle Street. This is the open hand rising out of the ground with fingers pointed toward the sky. All of these sculptures are ‘must haves’ in a blog on Brisbane sculptures!
P.S. I’ve never actually seen/noticed this ‘passenger’ sculpture before but will next time I’m over that side of the city. The look on his face is pretty much standard for any train trip in which you have to stand.. trust me :)

Murdoch, thanks for dropping in. I plan to take photos all of those sculptures and more.

I’ll have to think of some very interesting angles though, because Wes at the I Love Brisbane blog has already written lots of great articles, with photos, about many different sculptures in Brisbane - you should have a look at his website.

And yep, standing on the train sucks. The weekday peak hour trains are packed, and peak hour is more like 4 hours in the morning and in the evening.

The sculpture is on the diagonal part of Queen St that is behind the Orient Hotel - if you drive to the Valley along Queen St from the City, the sculpture will be on your left.
